Honestly, I’m tired of writing about fools who don’t understand that the Black Lives Matter movement isn’t premised on the fact that other lives don’t.
In fact, the Black Lives Matter manifesto, taken from the official website, includes the line “we work vigorously for freedom and justice for Black people and, by extension, all people”, as well as “to love and desire freedom and justice for ourselves is a prerequisite for wanting the same for others”.
It’s in their manifesto, so step away from the keyboard before you hit send on your #AllLivesMatter drivel.
Anyway, I’ve been told to write about a plonker named Jake Hepple, who has already received far more airtime than is warranted.
The 24-year-old fan of Burnley Football Club, who play in the English Premier League, organised for a ‘white lives matter’ banner to be flown over the Etihad Stadium as their match against Manchester City on Monday kicked off:
Double whammy – Burnley were hammered 5-0, and Hepple was condemned by the captain of the football club he loves:
Well said, Ben.
The banner was also condemned by manager Sean Dyche, who speaks from the 20-second mark below, and Hepple was given a lifetime ban from attending Burnley home matches at Turf Moor:
The third and final nail in the coffin is the fact that Hepple has now been sacked from his job at an engineering firm, reports Sky News:
[He] was dismissed from Lancashire-based Paradigm Precision on Wednesday.
According to Sky News sports correspondent Martha Kelner, his girlfriend has also had her employment terminated in relation to posts she made on social media…
Following Mr Hepple’s [below] dismissal, a spokesperson for Paradigm Precision said: “We have concluded our investigation into the conduct of one of our employees in relation to an incident at the Burnley vs Manchester City match, as well as other related matters.
“We have concluded that there has been a breach of the company’s various policies and procedures. The individual no longer works for the company.”
Some of Hepple’s comments on social media have also come back to haunt him, including derogatory comments made towards Pakistanis.
His response? He said he sometimes gets ‘a bit coked up and uses offensive language’, adding that he has “lots of Black and Asian friends and this banner was actually inspired by the Black Lives Movement”.
His backpedalling is rather amusing when you consider that on Monday evening, after sharing videos of the plane with the banner flying around Manchester, he posted “I’d like to take this time to apologise… to absolutely f***ing nobody!”
He has been informed by the police that he is not under criminal investigation, and won’t be charged, but that isn’t a prerequisite for being sacked from your job.
Tough luck, pal.
