Swedish DJ Avicii was found dead in a hotel room in Oman in April last year, at the age of 28.

It wasn’t long before details of his troubled final days emerged, with his brother tragically arriving in Oman just a few hours too late.

Now, to honour his musical achievements, a museum named the “Avicii Experience” is set to open next year in Stockholm, his hometown.

Rolling Stone with those details, after a press release was sent out yesterday:

…the “Avicii Experience” will “bring its visitors closer to the artist Avicii and the person Tim Bergling. The audience will follow Tim’s journey from a reclusive music nerd to a celebrated superstar, from his boyhood room where it all started to the Los Angeles studio where the biggest hits were created.”

On display at the museum will be a mix of memorabilia and previously unseen photographs and videos. Exhibits will also offer visitors the chance to “peer inside the creative process and the many collaborations behind the music.”

When the Avicii Experience opens, it will boast previously unpublished early version of Avicii’s breakthrough hit “Levels,” as well as troves of previously unreleased music used to craft the 2019 posthumous album, Tim.

The museum will be found inside a still to be completed facility dubbed SPACE (an artist’s rendering can be seen above), which celebrates music, gaming, and content creation.

Part of the revenue generated by the “Avicii Experience” will be donated to the foundation his family started in his honour, which helps raise awareness around the issues of mental health and suicide prevention.
