Long before Keanu Reeves was Neo from The Matrix, or a meme of a sad guy sitting on a bench, he was one half of Bill and Ted.
The first movie, 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, starred Alex Winter, who played Bill S. Preston Esquire, and Reeves, as Ted Theodore Logan.
That was followed up by Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, which was released in 1991, and the movies spawned a generation of stoners saying “All we are is dust in the wind, dude”, long before Will Ferrell in Old School.
Via Vulture, here’s what the latest move has in store for you:
In the new teaser trailer for Bill & Ted Face the Music, the two buddies are unchanged in middle age, still playing with Wyld Stallyns. They’re summoned by a council of floaty-future-people who tell them they failed at their task “to unite the world and save reality as we know it.”
Keanu comes up with a genius-idiotic solution: “Why can’t we just go to the future when we have written it?” So the two time travel in a phone booth that still exists somehow, and meet their future selves, who are extremely jacked.
Enough chitchat – here’s the trailer:
The movie is due for release in US theatres on August 21, although you would guess that date is subject to change due to COVID-19.
Still, something for fans to get excited about.
As the duo said on Facebook earlier today, be excellent to each other.
