One of the most high-profile criminal cases to rock the world last year involved financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was arrested on criminal charges related to the alleged sex trafficking of minors.
Delving deeper into the Epstein case was like falling down a rabbit hole.
He was alleged to have been at the centre of an international sex trafficking ring comprising some of the most powerful people in the world – even reaching as high as the British Royal family.
A month after his, arrest Epstein was found dead in his prison cell.
The private pathologist hired by Mark Epstein, Jeffrey’s brother, stated that he doesn’t believe the injuries sustained were consistent with a suicide, but New York City Chief Medical Examiner Barbara Sampson disagreed.
The mystery of his death has yet to be solved, but speculation abounds that someone wanted him silenced.
Per Mashable, a new four-part Netflix documentary, Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, looks into some of the theories surrounding his death:
Filthy Rich, which is based on the biography from author James Patterson, looks back at the billionaire’s alleged misdeeds over the years.
The series speaks to survivors who offer their firsthand accounts of how Epstein conducted the business that saw him investigated and charged numerous times in the decade-plus that ended with his death.
Check out the trailer:
You can catch Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, on Netflix, May 27, 2020.
It looks like a wild and disturbing ride.
