As things stand, America has in excess of 1,3 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, and more than 80 000 deaths.
Despite attempts to push the idea that the US death count may be inflated, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that the number of confirmed coronavirus deaths is probably underreported.
To settle in the middle, let’s use 80 000 as the figure, which is still a staggering feat of incompetence on the part of the US government, entrusted with keeping its citizens safe.
Over the weekend, MSNBC’s Morning Joe show took a look at President Donald Trump’s shifting rhetoric about the coronavirus, and how he’s conveniently trying to reinvent his early response to the pandemic.
HuffPost reports:
The show’s six-minute montage (above) features the number of infections and deaths superimposed on the right side of the screen and the date of Trump’s comments to the left. The toll mounts as the record of Trump’s remarks unspools…
The montage ends with Trump pondering injecting disinfectant as a treatment for COVID-19, the disease that the virus causes.
The president later claimed he was trying to be sarcastic.
Great joke to crack whilst citizens are dying by the thousands each and every day, POTUS.
Hang around until the end, and you get to hear about how Donald is a person with a good ‘you know what’:
I hope you had a better Mother’s Day than the US president.
Before we go, here’s Donald’s understanding of how test results work:
TRUMP: “Katie, she tested very good for a long period of time, and then all of the sudden she tested positive … this is why the whole concept of tests aren’t necessarily great … today, I guess, for some reason, she tested positive.” 😳 pic.twitter.com/xNFEJn3W9s
