The sinking of the Titanic is arguably one of the world’s most well known disasters.
It gets used to drive the point home about a number of issues, like emigration and politics in South Africa.
More recently, a pair of Australian violinists decided to pay homage to the ship, with a darkly humorous stab at everyone stockpiling toilet paper, and panic buying.
Footage of the two women playing the sinking Titanic hymn, ‘Nearer My God To Thee’, in a grocery store’s empty toilet paper aisle has gone viral. You’ll remember it from the film. It was played by the ship’s band as is sank:
According to BBC, the geniuses putting their musical training to good use are Bonnie Von Duyke and Emer Kinsella who hoped to bring “some light-hearted relief” to the world as tensions rise due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pair even sported black and white suits topped with real life-jackets.
