When it comes to routers, I tend to subscribe to the simple mantra of ‘have you tried turning it off and on again’?

Yes, it’s rudimentary, but it’s also surprisingly effective, and means I don’t need to try and figure out what all of those blinking, different-coloured lights actually mean.

Unfortunately, what my ‘off and on again’ technique does not take into account is the security of the router, which is pretty important when you consider that it’s the gateway to the internet for all your devices.
