We all have our lapses of judgment. But some of us make such horrendously poor decisions that one simply has to ask, “What were they on?”. Every week we bring you three contenders in what can only be described as a battle of small wits. So, with great pleasure we present this week’s three La Fee Absinthe-Minded Moment of the Week finalists. Inside we have the ANCYL supporters, Jacob Zuma, and Arsenal Football Club. But who claims the prize for the most mindbogglingly foolish tomfoolery of the week? Click through to find out!
Third place – Arsenal Football Club
On Sunday, the world witnessed the heaviest defeats an Arsenal football team has ever suffered at the hands of Premier League champi9ns, Manchester United. There were some cracker jokes that emerged as a result, as you’d rightly imagine. Like this one: I’d 8-2 be an Arsenal supporter. Or this one, where a local cellular network provider decided to set up a counselling line for the Arsenal fans allowing them dial 08-2 – 8-2-8-2-8-2. It’s been a tough start to the season for the Gunner’s, but Arsene needs to ban absinthe from the changing room before it’s too late.
Second place – ANCYL supporters
Julius Malema will learn his fate today about whether the party’s national disciplinary committee will go ahead with charges brought against him. The whippersnapper’s ANCYL supporters caused around R30 million’s damage to the Johannesburg city centre earlier this week when they violently protested against their leaders presumed wrapping over the knuckles. Please ANCYL dissidents, stop drinking absinthe before you hit the streets.
The winner – Jacob Zuma
“We are not happy with the way the UN resolution 1973 was implemented to allow air strikes on Libya,” President Jacob Zuma told a news conference during a state visit to Norway in respect of the key summit on Libya, hosted by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and UK Prime Minister David Cameron, which got underway in Paris yesterday. JZ, my man, sometimes it’s not OK for you to speak on behalf of South Africa. No more absinthe on your long haul flights overseas please.
