Fancy a guess at what is the most disliked video in YouTube’s history?
I’m not talking about general disdain, but referring to which video has received the most ‘dislike’ votes.
Not Bieber, not Rebecca Black’s Friday, but rather the YouTube Rewind 2018 video, which has racked up in excess of 17 million ‘dislikes’ in the year it’s been on the platform.
It really was a stinker.
Having learnt from the errors of their ways, the YouTube Rewind 2019 video has returned to a more familiar format, reports Variety:
…the 2019 version is a montage of what the platform says were the biggest moments and milestones from around the world on YouTube.
The move came after the 2018 YouTube Rewind scored as the most-disliked video ever in the platform’s history…
YouTube Rewind 2019 highlights different categories including the most-viewed creators on the platform — led by PewDiePie (with 4 billion views), who was absent from the Rewind video last year.
Other categories in 2019’s Rewind were most-liked video overall (MrBeast’s “Make This Video the Most-Liked Video on YouTube”), most-liked music, dance, and beauty videos; most-viewed video games (“Minecraft” and “Fortnite”); and top breakout creators (No. 1: Brazil’s Loud, which now has 3.8 million subscribers after launching in February).
I don’t pretend to know who any of these people are, but since its upload yesterday, this video has racked up close to 18 million views (at the time of writing).
Off we go:
Yeah, some faces I do not recognise at all.
Also, this video is already nearing two-and-a-half million ‘dislikes’ (at the time of writing), and people are calling it ‘lazy’ and ‘low budget’.
In general, the reception has been poor, so can it break last year’s 17 million ‘dislikes’ mark? In two words – who cares?
