Don’t ever say we don’t have your best interests at heart.
Yesterday, we showed you what happens to your body when you’re hungover, so you can better understand what you’re feeling while you lie on the couch and regret your actions from the night before.
There were a few words of advice in there, but it’s the basics about staying hydrated and avoiding sugary drinks.
Oh, and your hangovers are getting worse the older you get – you’re not imagining it.
Let’s imagine you’re now at the stage where you’re lying on the couch, feeling those pangs of regret, with a throbbing headache to boot. At this stage, what can be done to turn the ship around?
Enter Fergus Henderson, one of the world’s foremost chefs, who is fond of a drink or three. Because he needs to be able to bounce back rather rapidly, he has developed what he categorically states is the world’s premier hangover cure.
Via VICE, here’s what you’re using to get back to full speed:
Ingredients
2 parts Fernet Branca
1 part Crème de Menthe
Directions
1. Mix together and drink. Add ice. Do not be put off by the color.
2. Be careful: this is so effective you can find yourself turning to its miraculous powers with increasing regularity. Do not let the cure become the cause.
That’s it.
Rather simple, rather effective.
Fergus warns about not being put off by the colour. That’s the drink up top, in case you were wondering.
Crème de Menthe does contain alcohol (25%), and so too does Fernet Branca (around 40%), thus I wouldn’t recommend this for when you’re hungover and need to make it through a workday. Nearer the end of the year, when you’re expected to bounce back from a big night and do it all again the next day, this may come in handy.
Where do you get these two ingredients? They’re booze – ring a liquor store and ask. We can’t do all the work for you.
Good luck out there.
