I dream of a future where most of life’s hassles can be taken care of through WhatsApp.

That means no unsolicited calls (just ask before you ring – simple), and much of the bureaucracy that bogs down everyday life dealt with via a few simple messages and a blue tick to know that they’ve landed.

We’re not quite there yet, and that future may be some time off, but South African motorists can now renew their car licence disk through WhatsApp, using a service called Infobip.

Infobip said that the service is open to all car owners in South Africa at any time.

It added that the convenient renewal process takes less than two minutes saving vehicle owners ample time, without having to wait in long queues.

Craig Greenwood Selby, Infobip’s MD in South Africa, says the service is exceptionally innovative and is already having an impressive impact on the lives of South African motorists.

Alright, but how does it work?

Just add ChatBack (+27 66 202 6685) to your contacts, and then send them the word “renew” over WhatsApp.

From there, the process kicks into gear, as evident from the video below:
