When you’re on the canvas, and the clock shows 2:50 remaining in the first round, you know you’ve been humbled.

The Glory Kickboxing 72 Superfight Series headed to Chicago this weekend, and one of the night’s most anticipated matches saw heavyweights Jon King and Tom Matlon doing battle.

Sure, the knockout wasn’t as acrobatic as last week’s MMA ‘Rolling Thunder’ finishing move, and it wasn’t as rapid as the five-second flying knee win from Jorge Masvidal at UFC 239, but it did set a new record for Glory Kickboxing.

King needed just 10 seconds, which included the referee’s count, to send Matlon packing, with a right/left combination quickly followed up by another right on the way down:

Game over.

While we’re on the topic of knockouts, we should also mention Deontay Wilder, who defeated Luis Ortiz with this cracking punch in the seventh round of their WBC heavyweight title bout on Saturday night:

It’s safe to say that one landed.

Heavyweight boxing fans will be stoked with the fact that a Wilder rematch with Tyson Fury has now been confirmed, slated to take place on February 23 next year.
