30-year-old Frenchman Davy Gallon is the talk of the MMA world after his knockout at the weekend, which sent former UFC fighter Ross Pearson straight to the canvas.
The fight, which took place in Essex, was ended in the last minute of the third and final round by what talkSPORT describes as a ‘Rolling Thunder’ kick, which is also known as a capoeira rolling heel kick.
I would say it’s less brutal than heavyweight boxer Deontay Wilder’s teeth-rattling knockout against Dominic Breazeale, and not as sickening to watch as Jorge Masvidal’s record-setting flying knee, but it’s the sheer athleticism of the kick that is such a showstopper:
Gallon utilised his world class acrobatic ability to launch the perfectly placed attack on the unprepared Pearson, who was left unconscious as a result…
The KO has now re-launched Gallon’s career, making headlines around the world.
Meanwhile, UFC veteran Pearson will now be left considering returning to retirement as his comeback bout ended in brutal defeat.
Given that he’s already 35, it may be time for Pearson to call it a day.
Here’s that ‘Rolling Thunder’ in action:
That commentator was right on the viral prediction.
Via Probellum Fighting’s Instagram account, here’s the moment his foot made contact from a different angle:
Goodnight, Ross.
