Zapiro kept us waiting, but in the end, he delivered.

The Springboks touched down at OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday, bringing with them the William Webb Ellis trophy.

There were jubilant scenes, Makazole Mapimpi dropped an F-Bomb and nobody cared, and South African politicians were falling over themselves to get in on the action.

Seriously, though – not to sour what was a joyous occasion, but read this Twitter thread about how the heavy-handed SAPS treated the media so that politicians could snap their selfies.

Here’s another tweet for good measure, because it really was a mess. If only people could take a leaf out of Rassie’s book, and let the players have their moments in the sun.
