South Africa is certainly #StrongerTogether, as this past week has shown, but the DA’s #OneSAForAll is a hashtag that isn’t exactly being as warmly embraced.
We know Mmusi Maimane is gone, we know Patricia de Lille had a great chuckle about that, and we know that those who remain within the party structures are trying their utmost to show that things are all fine on the home front.
Sorry, but I’m not sure the majority are buying it – just ask Zapiro about Helen Zille, the ‘wrecking ball’.
This past Sunday, Carte Blanche decided to take a closer look with a segment titled ‘Turmoil in the DA’.
Here’s their short write-up:
The last few weeks have been tumultuous for the official opposition. The departure of the leader, a chairperson and the mayor of Johannesburg sent shockwaves through the party and rocked our political landscape.
As former DA leader Helen Zille re-enters the party as the Federal Council Chair, analysts are predicting it’s the end of the DA, but Zille has scoffed at these doomsday predictions and denies the party is in crisis.
South Africa’s official opposition party, tearing itself apart from the inside. Or not, depending on who you ask:
