Beauty therapist Tarynne van der Westhuizen (pictured above) appeared in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court this week, where she faced charges of assault.
It’s alleged that van der Westhuizen pepper-sprayed 30-year-old Itumeleng Tsoeu, who was breastfeeding her four-month-old baby in her car at the time.
The alleged assault took place in the parking lot of Vaal Mall, reports News24:
Van der Westhuizen allegedly also hurled racial slurs at Tsoeu, calling her baby a monkey…
Police spokesperson Brigadier Mathapelo Peters confirmed the incident to News24, saying Van der Westhuizen also laid an assault charge against Tsoeu.
…Van der Westhuizen claims she was also injured when Tsoeu opened the car door and that she didn’t see the baby who was being breastfed, according to EWN…
Tsoeu reportedly said her baby’s face was swollen and that he struggled to breathe following the alleged attack.
Rumour has it van der Westhuizen then demanded to speak to all the managers within a 10-kilometre radius.
Jokes aside, it’s also reported that van der Westhuizen allegedly threatened to shoot Tsoeu and her child before resorting to pepper spray, having earlier insulted the mother for parking incorrectly in a parking bay.
It is not yet known whether van der Westhuizen’s counter charge will be put on the court roll, and she is currently out on bail.
Here’s Tsoeu recounting the alleged attack, which took place back in August:
