Royalists can barely contain their excitement as we creep closer to the first meeting of the royal siblings on November 10.
It’s the first time that all four royals will be together following the media’s rumours of a feud, Harry’s supposed confirmation of the feud, and the consequent brotherly concern from William.
Unfortunately for the tabloids, the story isn’t as juicy as they’d like it to be, which is when ‘royal insiders’ get involved.
Often, nobody knows who they are or where they come from, but they appear to have a weirdly intimate knowledge of what the royal family gets up to.
The Daily Mail loves a ‘royal insider’, and they’ve recruited one who somehow overheard a conversation between Meghan and Kate in which Kate supposedly gives Meghan some sage advice about royal life.
Author and former royal correspondent Phil Dampier told the Express: ‘Catherine has told Meghan that every royal – including herself – goes through a bad patch with the press but the important thing is to learn by mistakes, move on and get through it.’
To be fair to Meghan, the press has been rather critical. So much so that Meghan and Harry are suing them.
If you need further confirmation that things are out of hand, 72 female British MPs felt the need to pen an open letter expressing their support for Meghan in “taking a stand against the often distasteful and misleading nature of the stories printed in a number of our national newspapers concerning you, your character and your family”.
If Brexit is anything to go by, British MPs struggle to work together to accomplish anything these days, so that’s quite something.
To return to Kate’s advice – we have no way of verifying whether or not the conversation actually happened. Vanity Fair says that the reports of her interaction with Meghan are mixed. Some say she reached out, others claim that she’s keeping her distance.
It’s probably somewhere in the middle, but we’ll never know.
In the meantime, it’s important to focus on what will happen to the British economy, social structure, and general wellbeing of the populous if the siblings aren’t getting along that well.
In short – absolutely nothing.
Keep calm, and carry on.
