Foodies, assemble.
For those who want to broaden their culinary horizons to global offerings, TripAdvisor’s list of the top 10 restaurants in the world is a good place to start.
Trotting around the world in search of tasty grub doesn’t come cheap, so for those who want to keep things a little closer to home, how about Eat Out’s latest list?
Before the big reveal, here are some of the criteria used, via BusinessTech:
The nominees were picked by a panel of critics made up of a diverse range of individuals including seasoned journalists, bloggers, writers, trained chefs, caterers, food personalities, lecturers and former restaurateurs.
These industry experts rate thousands of candidates – including the most viewed restaurants on the site, those that received reader reviews, and those recommended by critics.
The highest-scoring restaurants are then reviewed and the best are selected to form the Eat Out 500. The critics always dine unannounced and pay for their meals in full to ensure fair, unbiased reviewing.
I guess that unlike some of Cape Town’s most-loathed food critics, they don’t make a whale-sized song and dance every time they arrive.
The list itself is dominated by restaurants in the Western Cape, but there are also a few familiar names from Gauteng and KZN (rave reviews) to mix things up.
To avoid any kind of favouritism, the top 30 are listed in alphabetical order:
Always good to see Luke Dale-Roberts’ establishments still going from strength to strength.
A shout out also to Wolfgat for not resting on its laurels.
Should be a tight run thing to crack the top 10 list, which will be announced next month.
