Jason who?
Jason Donovan, the Australian actor and singer who first found fame on iconic Ozzie TV show Neighbours, and then recorded a few hit albums in the late ’80s and early ’90s.
Before my time, but good for him.
In an incident that led to thousands of people quoting the Neighbours theme song – ‘That’s when good neighbours become good friends’ – Donovan was snapped playing the role of hero in his undies.
The Telegraph reporting below:
Grateful residents told how the actor and singer, who rose to fame in Aussie soap Neighbours, ran to the rescue “like a superhero” in only his underwear while wielding two fire extinguishers.
Jason, 51, hosed down the blaze threatening to engulf a neighbour’s home in Notting Hill before firefighters arrived at the scene.
The owners of the £21.5 million west London mansion said Jason’s heroic act was “the perfect example of when good neighbours become good friends.”
Couldn’t resist, could they?
Also, just a casual £21.5 million mansion – nothing to see here, folks.
The fire broke out in the neighbouring mansion on September 22, and the owners only woke up when they heard banging on their front door:
They were standing outside their house with their two children aged ten and 12 when Jason came running across the road bare foot, armed with two fire extinguishers and single-handedly hosed down the blaze.
The family, who did not want to be named, said Jason spotted the fire from the window of his five storey house just after 4am and hailed him as the “best neighbour in the history of the world.”
The man’s wife was also rather complimentary:
“Jason Donavon ran across the road in his shorts looking fit with two fire extinguishers.”
To complete the praise, here’s London Fire Brigade watch manager Thomas Wolfe:
Regarding Jason’s dramatic intervention, Mr Wolfe said: “He looks good for his age.
“As one of the firefighters said to the resident: ‘everyone needs good neighbours.'”
Another one.
That really is enough now.
