We’ve been reading a lot of news about how difficult things are for women in South Africa at the moment.
When things look bleak, it’s important to remember that the women in this country are a force to be reckoned with in the social sphere, in politics, and in business.
In recent years the number of women, of all ages, starting their own businesses has been on the rise.
This has contributed significantly not only to job creation, but also to female empowerment in South Africa.
Natasha Fagri, “founder of Frost Popsicles, the range of alcoholic popsicles that took South Africa by storm” spoke to Bizcommunity about what it takes to succeed as a woman in business.
Here are her five tips for success:
1. Think Like A Woman
Get it out of your head that in order to succeed you need to “be like a man”. A woman can be strong, influential and impactful whilst still being graceful with a soft touch. You don’t’ need to be “one of the boys” in order to progress and be respected.
2. Back Yourself!
Back yourself! As women we are too quick to doubt our own abilities and ideas and we play down the importance of trusting our gut. Women have unique intuition that in business can be extremely useful. Trust that! Always engage the brain but don’t forget the heart.
3. Speak out
Voice your ideas and thoughts. You’re brilliant and you have a voice – use it, it’s important!
4. Don’t be afraid to fail
There isn’t a success story in history where everything went perfectly the first time. Step out of your comfort zone and be brave. You don’t learn when things go smoothly, you learn when times get tough and solutions and strategies are needed.
5. Surround yourself with people who believe in you
Surround yourself (both personally and in business) with people who want to see you succeed. People that inspire you to be the best version of yourself and want you to move forward. People you can speak honestly with and whom you can trust. Cut out unnecessary negativity and remember there’s a big difference between realism and pessimism.
With that approach to business, it’s no surprise that Frost Popsicles have been such a huge success.
Frost Popsicles first launched in September 2016 with the Tranquille and Brut Pierre Jourdan Popsicles.
The range now comprises nine popsicles in total – six alcoholic, and three non-alcoholic.
Frost Popsicles include no artificial ingredients and, with the exception of the Vanilla Coffee Non-Alcoholic Popsicle, the range is dairy-free and vegan-friendly, so there really is something for everyone.
The blinding light coming through my bedroom window this morning at 7AM is a surefire sign that summer is on its way, and nothing says summer like a popsicle on a sunny day.
Visit the Frost Popsicles website to find your nearest stockist, or to treat yourself with a box delivered to your door.
