It’s been a while since we wrote about Meghan’s dad, Tom Markle, although we may or may not have received an email from his son.
If you’re reading this, hit us up. We’d love to chat further, but our last reply went unanswered.
Meghan has a whole list of embarrassing family members, but Tom is right up there with the worst of them.
The man would do just about anything to get his name in the tabloids, and the tabloids would do just about anything to sit down with Tom Markle.
It’s a match made in heaven.
To fully understand his latest attack on Meghan and Harry, we have to go back to the holiday they took with little Archie last month.
Environmental campaigners accused the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of hypocrisy, after the couple used private jets to fly to the south of France and Ibiza on two trips just days apart.
Elton John then stepped in to defend them.
Following the backlash, Harry decided to launch a global initiative to encourage more environmentally friendly travel, reports Sky News.
The Duke of Sussex has travelled to Amsterdam on a commercial flight to launch the Travalyst partnership, which is backed by some of the biggest names in the travel industry.
It has been created to promote sustainable travel solutions by supporting local communities, protecting wildlife, tackling climate change and alleviating over-tourism.
Great. He listened to the criticism, took it to heart, and responded with a solution.
Good job, Harry.
Tom disagrees, according to Express:
Mr Markle, who lives alone in Mexico, said to the newspaper: “I feel sorry for them in a way because they brought this on themselves”.
“You can’t say one thing and do another”.
“Everyone raves about how gracious and wonderful they are, but they are not wonderful to their own family”.
He proceeds to go on and on about ‘the family’.
“You can’t portray yourself as being charitable and bringing people together and then ghost your own father and entire family.”
Mr Markle, 75, also said that the Duke and Duchess have acted as “hypocrites” when it comes to their relationship with himself.
Megan’s father said: “Their treatment of me has left a lot to be desired”.
“I’ve still never met my son-in-law”.
He also makes it clear that, despite branding them hypocrites, he doesn’t actually have a problem with the royals using air travel:
“Why couldn’t Prince Harry have got on a plane and flown to see me to ask for her hand?”
“If he wants to come and see me on a private jet, there’s an airport near here in Tijuana, and San Diego is just over the border”.
Maybe if you stopped talking to the tabloids for five minutes they’d be more inclined to make contact.
He claims that he hasn’t spoken to the press in a while out of respect for Meghan while she was pregnant.
If I can offer you a word of advice:
Let this one go. You don’t want to take on Elton John.
You won’t win.
