Look, friends, I was told to write this story by Seth.
On the plus side, it is Friday, and it makes a change from the doom and gloom that dominates many local news sites.
If I was you, though, I would rather watch Johnny Clegg’s memorial service life from Sandton.
Still here? Fine, I will give you what you want.
So, Teletubbies, the Sun Baby from Teletubbies, and rumours of having a baby.
If you care (I don’t – I want that on the record), here are the details via Mashable:
Jess Smith, the woman who played the iconic Sun Baby on the show during its original 1997-2001 run, was the subject of a Twitter misunderstanding on Monday when a photo of her holding a baby made the rounds.
The photo, which was captioned “The teletubbies sun baby has a baby,” was flooded with replies from people saying how old it made them feel. So many people reacted, in fact, that the official Teletubbies Twitter account (yes, that exists!) was forced to do a debunk. The baby is actually the new Sun Baby, Berry, who appeared in the Teletubbies reboot.
To quote Owen Wilson, ‘woooow’.
Here’s the viral tweet:
Cool.
As the rumour spread, the Teletubbies account decided to speak out:
So glad this is all cleared up.
Should you feel old, knowing that the Sun Baby is now all grown up? I dunno – you understand the linear progression of time, right?
For what it’s worth, Jess Smith is now 24, she’s a dance educator, and you can follow her on Twitter.
Great stuff.
