When the pre-season friendlies start, you know the return of the English Premier League is around the corner.
That’s always cause to rejoice, as well as to have a look at which players look set to fire in the early matches.
Harry Kane has struggled to score in August’s Premier League matches, but if his goal yesterday against Juventus is anything to go by, he looks ready to bang a few in.
His 93rd-minute winner secured a 3-2 win for Spurs, and you can’t blame him for being rather chuffed with the strike.
Yes, it’s only a friendly, but this is quite some hit:

Looks like he’s been watching Wayne Rooney, then.
According to the Guardian, Harry had actually been planning the strike throughout the second half:
“It’s probably one of the best goals in my career,” Kane said afterwards. “I saw the keeper was quite far off his line a few times, so I thought I would take the chance if I had the opportunity. I saw him off his line and fortunately, it went in.”
Manager Mauricio Pochettino was also rather impressed:
“It’s unbelievable from Harry…I think it is good for him to start the pre-season scoring. It wasn’t the priority to win the game, but to compete in our best way, and in the end to win, is always better than not winning.
“This type of situation happens because of the quality of the player to see the position of the keeper. It’s [Kane’s] talent that in that moment the ball arrived, and he decided to shoot. It was a little bit lucky that the ball went in.”
When you shoot from the halfway line, you make your own luck.
