Have you ever looked at someone and wondered if they know just how terrible their wig / weave / toupée looks?
I mean, you’re free to decorate your head as you see fit, but sometimes it’s pretty tough to keep a straight face.
This guy in Spain, though, is playing in the major leagues, and his attempt to smuggle half a kilogram of cocaine into the country is worth a look.
The Colombian national was apprehended at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, and he was doomed from the start. The Guardian reports:
Officers noted that the passenger, who had arrived on a flight from Bogotá, seemed extremely nervous. However, what most attracted their attention was the size, and in particular, the height of his wig.
When they asked him to remove his wig the officers found a packet containing 503g of cocaine glued to his head. They then arrested him.
Well done to the police, but it didn’t exactly require too much investigative work to uncover the stash.
Probably better to try and hide it in an excavator, although that doesn’t always work out, either.
I’d like to get in a little closer on the stash, with wig:
I’ve seen some questionable haircuts up and down Bree and Kloof Street, but even there, this wouldn’t fly.
When you consider that the cocaine had an estimated street value of around $34 000 (R530 000), you have to wonder why he didn’t put a little more thought into the attempt.
Spanish customs officers have seen many a creative drug smuggler these past few years, as it serves as an important gateway for South American cocaine to enter mainland Europe.
Police have found cocaine inside breast implants, hollowed-out pineapples, a wheelchair cushion, and the plaster cast covering a man’s broken leg.
Let’s not forget about Nolubabalo “Babsie” Nobanda, the South African woman caught with cocaine in her dreadlocks in Thailand back in 2011.
Thankfully, her sentence was reduced in an amnesty granted to prisoners in Thailand by King Maha Vajiralongkorn recently, and she may be released as soon as 2024.
