Prince Harry is all about giving Meghan what she wants.
We know this because he famously announced “what Meghan wants, Meghan gets” in the run-up to their wedding.
What Meghan clearly wanted was a new engagement ring.
Before everyone decries the audacity of it all, you should know that it isn’t unusual for stylish women to upgrade their engagement jewellery.
Here’s The Daily Beast:
In its original configuration, the ring featured a thick gold band strung with a row of three diamonds.
Harry said at the time: “The ring is obviously yellow gold because that’s her favorite, and the main stone itself is sourced from Botswana, and the little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewelry collection, to make sure she’s with us on this crazy journey together.”
Botswana holds special memories for Harry and Meghan as they spent her 36th birthday there, ahead of their engagement.
In the pictures of Meghan at the Trooping of the Colour (also the possible location of her and Harry’s first public spat), eagle-eyed tabloid vultures noticed that Meghan’s ring had received an upgrade:
The one on the left is the original, while the one on the right clearly has a thinner band and possibly a few more diamonds.
Harry designed the original himself without consulting Meghan, so the takeaway here is to consult your partner before springing jewellery on them.
Then again, they have the dough to make any amendments down the line, so no harm done.
