People are kind of upset with Trevor Noah.
There’s no legit reason for it, but they just thought he copped out on his Met Gala outfit.
The Daily Show host decided to skip the campy over-the-top costume this year and do something simple.
And to be fair, Lady Gaga wore enough outfits for four people, so she more than made up for anyone who didn’t put a whole lot of effort in.
Here’s TimesLIVE with more on Trevor:
SA’s superstar celeb showed up in a boring black suit paired with a white T-shirt reading “This is all a formality”. As one Twitter user put it, Noah’s look was the equivalent of “going to a Halloween party with a ‘this is my costume’ shirt”.
Perhaps Trevor was stumped by the event’s somewhat confusing camp dress code? He shouldn’t have been. As Andrew Bolton, curator of the Met’s Costume Institute, said: “The purpose of camp is to put a smile on our faces and a warm glow in our hearts” — and making us smile is something the comedian is usually brilliant at.”
Well, Trevor addressed the uproar during one of his recent shows:
Speaking of making people smile – and in more interesting Trevor Noah news – he interviewed Charlize Theron as part of her promotional tour for her new movie, Long Shot:
He also weighed in on the recent Caster Semenya issue.
South Africans are outraged, and so is Trevor:
He makes some good points. Pity the IAAF can’t see it.
