Sometimes you just really need a slice or five of pizza to get you through the day.
And, thanks to technology, when that craving hits your pizza is just a few clicks or a phone call away.
There are some people, however, who need to take even the simplest of tasks to the next level.
A Nigerian minister has claimed that there are some rich people in his country that have pizza delivered to them from London via British Airways flights.
All I can say is that the pizza in Nigeria must be really, really bad…
Here’s Mail & Guardian with more:
Audu Ogbeh, the minister of agriculture, made these comments before a senate committee in an attempt to illustrate how imports are harming local farmers and businesses. For some time now, citizens have taken to importing basic food items such as rice and tomato paste, because they think “it shows status, class, that they only eat imported things,” Ogbeh charged.
Ogbeh added: “Do you know, sir, that there are Nigerians who use their cellphones to import pizza from London? [They] buy in London, they bring it on British Airways in the morning to pick up at the airport.”
How does this all work I hear you ask?
No there isn’t an app for this. It’s as Ogbeh describes it – they just order the pizza from London. It’s then put on a plane with someone who takes it to the airport where it’s collected.
Far too much effort for me, thanks.
Luckily South Africans don’t have to spend big and import a pizza from England (again, why England???) if they want a slice.
Butler’s Pizza will deliver a quality, piping hot pizza to your door.
It’s also guaranteed to taste far better than anything you’ll get in London, because the Brits aren’t exactly known for their pizza.
Just in case you’re feeling the craving, here are the specials that are currently running:
More good news – you can order online without booking a flight for your food.
Although, if you are in a tight spot – on a trawler beached on Clifton 1st, for example – they’ll still find a way to help you out.
It’s all the status of an excellent pizza, without the drama of getting it through customs.
