Depending on what you’re looking for in a movie, that comparison is either a good or a bad thing.
The comparisons are fair, because Seth Rogen teamed up with fellow producer Evan Goldberg for Good Boys. They’re the duo that wrote Superbad, Pineapple Express and Sausage Party, so you know what you’re in for.
As is to be expected, the plot is straightforward enough, and there will no doubt be drinking and boobs and masturbation jokes.
This from Highsnobiety:
Leading the Good Boys cast is Room’s Jacob Tremblay, portraying a 12-year-old named Max who is freaking out after being invited to his first make-out party. Alongside his best friends Thor (Brady Noon) and Lucas (Keith L. Williams), the three set out to learn some pointers on how to kiss, prior to the big night.
The boys decide to use Max’s dad’s drone, which he isn’t allowed to touch, to spy on his teenage neighbor and her boyfriend. To be expected, the mission goes horribly wrong, and the drone is destroyed, leaving Max desperate to replace it.
While skipping school to land a new drone, Max, Thor and Lucas experience one of the wildest days of their young lives, as they end up with stolen drugs, at the mercy of frat bros, and running from the cops.
So basically Superbad, then?
We’ll hand over to Seth himself to do the honours:
This one hits cinemas on August 16 over in the US.
