Is it even a political meeting anymore if someone doesn’t throw a chair?
Not in South Africa.
A brawl between EFF councillors and security started at the Metsimaholo council (Sasolburg) in the Free State yesterday.
The Citizen reports that the EFF’s Lucas Mokoena said that EFF councillors were allegedly assaulted by security guards whom they referred to as “bouncers”.
Apparently, this happened at the request of the speaker of Metsimaholo, when they questioned the presence of the men in their council sitting. They also asked where the funds would come from to pay them.
Classic EFF – they like to dish it out, but they don’t like to take it.
Here’s a video of the events. Note the chair flinging.
The EFF has also released pictures of the injuries they sustained in the brawl on Facebook:
The council has yet to issue a statement about the events of the meeting.
It’s a miracle we even get anything done, politically speaking, in this country.
