PR agency Avance Media, in partnership with 1000 African Voices and VIPI State (Avenva), recently announced the finalists for the third edition of the “100 Most Influential Young South Africans” award.

Trevor Noah won top spot back in 2016. This year he didn’t make the list, and a lot of people aren’t happy about it, but more on that later.

Back to this year’s list which, according to Avance Media, “features 50 females and 50 males” who have made remarkable contributions towards their respective fields.

Apparently, we’re employing the gender binary here, but we’ll let that go for now.

The list, which you can read in full here, pays homage to influencers in a number of fields, including Business, Entertainment, Leadership and Civil Society and Science and technology among others.

Spot anyone you know in here?

The nominees include Khanyi Mbau, Pabi Moloi, Lasizwe, Khanya Mkangisa, AKA, and Cassper Nyovest, to name a few, reports The Citizen.

Here’s the thing, though –  a lot of people are less than impressed with the list, which excludes big SA names like Pearl Thusi, Bonang Matheba, DJ Zinhle, and Madjozi.

Oh, and Trevor Noah, of course.

I guess the good news is that South Africa seems to be full of influencers.

It also looks like Trevor Noah has officially put down roots in the States. Why else would he drop R280 million on a new crib in Los Angeles?
