This is not a drill.
PUMA is releasing self-lacing sneakers, because who has time to tie their own laces these days?
Look at that poor sod up top – not for me, thanks.
The Fit Intelligence, or Fi, will be released in 2020. The sneakers will be low tops, designed for everyday wear, workouts and light running.
According to SneakerNews, the Fit Intelligence will use a cable lacing system, covered up by a device that sits on the tongue. Users can adjust their laces by swiping up or down on the lace lock, or they can use a mobile app.
Always ahead of the game, PUMA will be combining the latest technology with style.

Let’s just run through the mechanics one more time:
Using a micromotor placed over the shoe’s tongue and an industrial-grade fiber support system, the shoe’s fit can be adjusted by simply swiping up or down through a smartphone app or on an Apple Watch. However, it’s more than just a customizable accoutrement for a performance sneaker. What sets the “Fit Intelligence” system apart is its ability to learn the shape of the wearer’s foot and adapt itself to provide the best lockdown and support for each individual foot shape.
The wonders of modern technology!
Although the shoe will only be released next year, PUMA is inviting tech-savvy people to sign up to beta test the product by downloading its Pumatec app, which you can do here.
The app is an AI engine that offers “bespoke workouts, runs and events” and “intelligent training, tailored to you”, which sounds pretty cool.
