Apple is known for innovation, and those are skills that they’re now using to troll competitors in the best possible way.
The tech company set up a massive billboard outside the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) tech conference in Las Vegas, right beside a monorail emblazoned with Google ads.
The billboard takes a stab at Amazon and Google’s less than stellar privacy record, reports Highsnobiety.
Take a look:
Nicely done. I like the Vegas reference. They covered all their bases.
Here’s a recap of the scandals that inspired this tasteful nastiness:
In October last year, Google announced it would be shutting down its Google+ social network after the discovery of a user data leak similar to Facebook’s Cambridge Analytica scandal. Plans to shut down the service were accelerated after a second leak was revealed in December. Amazon, meanwhile, was hit by a major data breach in November.
Apple CEO Tim Cook, who refers to the whole data breach mess as “the data industrial complex”, has called for stricter tech privacy laws.
If you want to switch up your phone for something a little more private, head on down to Digicape, South Africa’s largest independent Apple retailer.
And if you’re going to troll, make like Apple and be smart about it.
