Have you ever had one of those weeks where you want to flip your desk, throw your work across the room, and ‘peace out’ of the office?
Of course, you have.
That’s the idea behind the latest advert from Showmax, and it’s proving very popular. In just over three weeks, the advert has already racked up 350 000 views, and shows no sign of slowing down.
According to SAPeople, the ad was conceived in-house and directed by Nare Mokgotho of Massif production house in Jozi, and captures exactly what it would be like to go about your day if you had zero, um, bucks left to give.
In the words of Capetonian viewer Chris Mackerdush:
“Guys this ad is f..king outstanding. I’m in the ad industry and cynical as a bastard but this commercial is a thing of beauty and a fountain of joy”.
Don’t just take his word for it, though – see for yourself:
Yup, that is some fine work.
It was created to announce the launch of a deal between Showmax and Vodacom, featuring three months free access to the Showmax video on demand service and three months of free Showmax data in South Africa, which is exclusive to prepaid and contract Vodacom customers.
Once the three months of free access period has expired, customers will then be charged R49 per month for Showmax access for the following nine months.
In total, this means that a year of Showmax, which would normally cost R1 188, will instead only cost R441 – and that’s with the 15 GB of free Showmax data during the first three months.
So you get a rad advert and a sweet deal in the bargain. Win-win.
Zero bucks given, everything gained.
