Florida is notorious for the odd stories that continually emerge from the US state (hence the ‘Florida man’ meme), but this one is pretty darn disturbing.
Two central Florida schoolgirls, aged 11 and 12, were apprehended by police earlier this week, and charged with conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a weapon on school property, carrying a concealed weapon, and disruption of a school function.
Not just any murder, though, because the girls waited in their school’s bathroom with knives, where they planned to kill at least 15 students and drink their blood in honour of Satan.
Getting some serious Krugersdorp Killers vibes about these two. Here are some deets via CNN:
The 11-year-old spent the weekend at the 12-year-old’s home, and on Sunday, after a day of watching horror films, “they devised a plot to kill several students” at the middle school, according to a police report.
The girls decided they would attend their first-period classes, then meet in a bathroom, where they would wait for smaller students and overpower them, according to a police report. They “did not want to attack larger students,” the report says.
Using knives tucked under their clothes, the plan was to stab their victims and cut their throats, police say. The preteens conducted internet searches on how to kill someone with a knife and what type of wound would cause their victims “to bleed out the fastest,” the police report says.
Upon killing each victim, the report says, they intended to stack her or him in a bathroom stall and wait for the next small student to enter the bathroom.
“After the students were dead, they would cut them up and eat parts of the dead flesh,” the report says, adding that the girls aimed to kill between 15 and 25 students.
The girls then planned to kill themselves by stabbing, and they hoped that by killing their fellow students, “they would get to go to hell so they could be with satan,” according to police.
OK, also getting quite a Slender Man vibe about these two.
The school’s assistant found the girls in the bathroom with four knives, scissors and a pizza cutter tucked under their clothes. They also had a goblet with which to drink the blood.
You can see those implements below:
Here’s a rather odd combo:
One of the girls had also scrawled violent lyrics from Eminem and Florence + the Machine on a sheet of paper, photos show.
One sheet of notebook paper also included a short poem: “trying hard to leave./stuck in a endless abyss./claw a way out, now,” photos show…
A search of the girls’ cell phones found Snapchat messages regarding the plot, according to a police report. The messages included, “We shouldn’t have met each other lol. Now Death is near,” and, “I was thinking like stabbing ourselves in the necks.”
Rubbish poetry.
I’ll tell you who ain’t having it – the Satanic Temple. Lucien Greaves, spokesperson and co-founder of the Temple, distanced his organisation from the foiled crime when he spoke with Rolling Stone:
“I’m sure it will be established that these girls held no active role in any established form of religious Satanism, the major sects of which today are non-theistic, humanistic, and anti-superstitious…Their distorted perspective of what Satanism is, and their apparent supernatural belief in what Satan wants, is almost certainly the product of a Christian upbringing, possibly an attempt at the tired ‘the devil made us do it’ defense.”
Greaves [below] wasn’t yet done:
“Disturbed people claiming the justification of religion are daily committing depraved acts worldwide, but only when Satanism is invoked do we so often witness an uncritical acceptance of the notion that the religious perspective bears the responsibility for the individual’s action…
Perhaps ironically, if there were less dramatically false representations of Satanism in popular culture, and more accurate representations expressing what we truly believe and what we practice, I believe we’d see incidents like this, rare as they are, disappear completely as it became generally recognized, by consumers of news and perpetrators of crime alike, that Satanism provides no justification whatever for heinous crimes.”
Drops mic.
I know Halloween is around the corner, but if possible, stick to dressing up in skimpy outfits for Instagram likes and stay away from the murdering.
