So, how about that heat this weekend?
Sometimes summer eases its way back from the blue, with a gentle increase in temperature making the arrival barely perceptible.
Other times it arrives, drops its towel, and isn’t at all bothered that we’re not quite ready for the full frontal.
This year it’s clearly the latter, because this weekend the heat was cranked right up, and tourists who decided to visit our shores were treated to scenes usually reserved for the December through January rush.
Real estate battles on the beach, scrambles for parking, the late afternoon post-sunburn shuffle to the car amidst whispers of ignored sunscreen advice – all the usual culprits.

A simple stroll to Cafe Caprice, a few cocktails, one of their famous burgers (don’t forget about their 2-for-1 Tuesday special), and the perfect place to watch the sun go down.
What else could you want?
Their resident DJs fill the space with laid-back music from Thursday to Sunday, with a deep, chilled house soundtrack, and you get to watch the world go by with a drink or two in hand.
It’s what summers in Cape Town are really all about. Well, that and watching British tourists burn to a crisp because they threw around the randelas the night before, whilst laughing at the exchange rate.
Wear sunscreen, friends.
