I’m the first to admit that I can be a walking, talking contradiction – especially when it comes to what I prioritise in terms of spending. It’s often to my detriment, which you are about to see.
The desire to offer the most luxurious Klein Karoo bush retreat available has resulted in us installing premium furnishings and fittings throughout Cabine du Cap. From Rhino Wood decking, Melvill & Moon furniture, Smeg minibar and even SkyFans ceiling fans, we wanted our guests to experience something they don’t get all the time at home.
Now that’s all very well, but the same was true for our choice of mattresses – and that’s where the problem comes in.
We opted for high-quality luxury mattresses from A&A Furnishers, way superior to our mattresses at home. So now we look forward to visits to Cabine du Cap, not just because of the spectacular escape into nature, but also the incredibly good night’s rest we have when there, as a direct result of the mattress.
The biggest advantage for me, besides waking up without any aches and pains, is not waking up when my dearest moves around in the night. Pocket springs mean you literally don’t feel any movement whatsoever. It’s basically a miracle.
Then we go back home to our crap mattress.
With the endless studies and mainstream exposure, only a fool would be unaware of how important sleep has become. Listen to this, via Health Online:
– We spend approximately a third of our lives in bed.
– Poor sleep can make you fat
– Good sleep improves concentration and productivity
– Good sleep can maximize athletic performance
– Poor sleepers have a greater risk of heart disease and stroke
– Sleep affects glucose metabolism and type 2 Diabetes risk
– Poor sleep is linked to depression
– Sleep improves your immune function
– Sleep affects emotions and social interactions
Elon Musk, anyone?
Look at how much we invest in other health-related things – organic foods, juicers, personal trainers, yoga retreats…you get the drift.
Here’s the real kicker – quality sleep should not be a luxury. It is a necessity and we should be investing in it. So then why would I compromise my sleep in my own home, where I spend most of my time? Surely the stresses and demands of a busy urban life demand quality sleep?
It’s quite clear I’m an idiot.
Get a good mattress and be a better person. Live longer while you’re at it. Get on that now, and make the most of their deal – 33% off the recommended retail prices for all Rest Assured and Cloud Nine mattresses, which has already been decucted from the prices listed.
Pop in at A&A Furnishers on Kloof Street (between Mabu vinyl and vida e) for a quick first-hand test and explainer from Uncle Willie, the owner, who has been in the game for decades.
You can also check out their online store, if you can’t find the time to venture to Kloof Street.
Oh, and don’t stress about the price. You’ll be getting the best deal and, if it’s still too much, use the budget facility on your card – this is an investment in your own well-being.
