After a seriously successful stint with her HBO hit Girls, Lena Dunham is back with a new series featuring less nipples and armpit hair.
This time, the writer/director spends a lot more time behind the camera, with Jennifer Garner taking centre stage in a role we’re not used to seeing her play. But from what I’ve seen in the trailer, she seems to pull it off really well.
Mashable agrees:
Even from just this 30-second teaser, it’s clear the uptight Kathryn will be at least fun to watch — even if she’s insufferable to actually be around.
The show, which also stars Doctor Who and Jessica Jones‘ David Tennant, follows her reluctant journey into the outdoors to celebrate a birthday. Alongside Dunham, co-creators Jenni Konner and John Riggi have adapted the originally British series for an American audience.
It looks a lot more tame than Dunham’s previous work, but you never know what you’re gonna get, because YOU CAN’T PLAN (doof!) FOR HUMAN NATURE (BOOOM!).
I never do that. Consider yourselves lucky.
