Whoever allowed this bloody thing to fly over UK Parliament deserves a diamond-encrusted platinum medal.
Well, that would be London mayor Sadiq Khan, who has approved a request for the flight of a giant balloon of President Donald Trump.
Dubbed the “angry Trump baby”, the balloon depicts the POTUS as … well, an angry baby.
Makes sense, since everyone thinks he’s a massive man-baby himself.
Take a look at the close-up of this hilarious abomination:
Maybe its inflated ego is helping it stay afloat.
Per a report by Sky News, the green light for its flight came after thousands signed a petition, and a crowdfunding campaign raised more than £16 000 (over R280 000) to get the six-metre inflatable off the ground:
Strict rules are in place for the flight from Parliament Square Gardens, with the balloon being tethered to the ground and restricted from floating higher than 30m.
It will fly between 9:30AM and 11:30AM on Friday July 13 – coinciding with the president’s visit to the UK and a “Stop Trump” march in central London.
A spokesperson for the Mayor of London said: “The Mayor supports the right to peaceful protest and understands that this can take many different forms.
“His city operations team have met with the organisers and have given them permission to use Parliament Square Garden as a grounding point for the blimp.”
What a majestic sight that will be … and that’s probably the first and last time I’ll ever call Trump that.
Activists at the protests are sure to agree with me: according to The Guardian, campaign groups and trade unions have organised a schedule of protests to follow Trump when he touches down in the UK next week for a visit.
The blimp is sure to put a damper on the Don’s visit, and that’s exactly the intention:
Leo Murray, an environmental campaigner behind the balloon stunt, said the protest was intended to play on Trump’s psychology. “He’s a deeply insecure man, and that is the only leverage we have over him. If we want his attention, we have to do something that humiliates him.”
Although getting permission to fly the freakish thing got off to a slow start, Murray told Sky News that Khan and the rest of City Hall rediscovered their sense of humour and are letting Trump Baby fly.
If all goes well, we might see Trump Baby going on a world tour.
Fingers and toes crossed.
