Quite a bloody weekend, right?
At around 5:25PM on Saturday, South African rugby fans hurled abuse at the telly, expecting another trouncing from a rampant England.
Fast forward to the final whistle, and everyone is heralding the dawn of a new era, with Captain Fantastic and his chargers staging an epic comeback to pip the Poms 42-39.
It’s tough to know where to start, because there were so many magical moments, but here’s Siya striding onto the field:
Then there was the quite brilliant Siya / Temba Bavuma fistbump, with the latter carrying the flag onto the field ahead of the national anthems.
As comedian Simmi Areff pointed out, there was quite a size differential:
Reminds me of that time he high-fived Morne Morkel:
Magic.
Also, what did Siya say when the Boks gathered under the poles 21 points down?
We could go on about the Boks all day, but let’s just enjoy those highlights one more time:
What a vibe – take that, Monday.
Let’s move on to the Bltzbokke, who defied the odds to win the Paris Sevens. Not only that, but their victory meant they were crowned World Series champs, pipping defeated quarter-finalists Fiji to the title in dramatic fashion
This highlights reel from Sunday’s action is essential viewing:
Another victory over the English, and if you were really keeping score you’d note that our Proteas women’s team also beat England in the first ODI, making it a clean sweep for the weekend.
No pressure, Junior Boks, who take on England in the u20 semi-final on Tuesday.
We must also give credit to England coach Eddie Jones, who dealt with a heckler on his way off the field with great class at the post-match press conference:

He also paid respect to Siya Kolisi and what this win meant for the country, which deserves respect:
Eddie was Jake White’s right-hand man, and it’s good to see that he can still pay homage to a wonderful moment in Springbok history, despite suffering his fifth consecutive defeat.
Enough rugby – a little shout-out to Bafana Bafana as well, who won the Plate section of the Cosafa Cup, beating Botswana 3-0 in the final at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday night.
None of their goals were quite as good as Serbia’s fourth in their win over Bolivia, though:
Cracking strike.
Did I mention that Scotland also beat England in yesterday’s ODI? I didn’t, but the moment they took the final wicket to seal a six-run wicket is worth a look:

That might have been a massive upset, but Rafa Nadal clinching the Roland Garros title was not. What else did you expect?
Let’s do one more video for the road, and the stunning eagle that clinched the Fedex St.Jude Classic for Dustin Johnson.
In for eagle, and not a bad way to wrap up the tournament win and a return to the number one world ranking:
UNBELIEVABLE!
This is how Dustin Johnson finished off his @fesjcmemphis victory…
Makes sense that he’s the new No. 1 in the world. pic.twitter.com/bvRjkihL0e
