I know these shows love to ham up the drama, but the latest Britain’s Got Talent had a genuinely scary performance.
Maybe it’s because I’m no fan of having my head trapped underwater, but even though escapologist Matt Johnson seems used to it, he still appeared rather shaken up when completing his live semi-final performance on Monday night.
The 43-year-old just managed to wangle out in time, which meant the paramedics on standby didn’t have to spring into action.
Here’s Matt doing his thing:
Judge Amanda Holden was also rather terrified:
‘Oh my God I really hate it, I hold my breath with you for the whole thing. I basically nearly passed out myself. It’s exciting to watch – you’re very brave and I’m glad you’re still alive.’
Fancy hearing the worst bit? The poor bugger didn’t even make the final, even though he had one of those heartstring-tugging stories to go along with his performance.
Below via the Daily Mail:
…he performed his incredible audition after seeing his brother suffer with a condition that causes him to have irregular seizures.
He told the chat show host he wanted to understand how his brother feels when suffering a seizure, as he suffers from tuberous sclerosis which causes calcium deposits on the brain.
He said: ‘He will go a day sometimes, sometimes a week, but you don’t know when he’s going to drop, so he can’t drive or work.
‘Sometimes if he has two or three in a row, I wanted as a brother to understand what he goes through, and that’s how it started.’
We’re just glad you made it out of that water box thing in one piece, man.
