You’ve already met the sensational Sarah Rose Summers, the new Miss USA a couple of days back.
Now friends, get ready to meet, greet and bow down to the newly-crowned Miss South Africa 2018.
Tamaryn Green was crowned Miss South Africa 2018 at Times Square in Pretoria on Sunday night. According to eNCA, the 23-year-old is a medical student from Paarl in the Western Cape, and she’s the 60th winner to snatch the coveted crown.
Pretty certain everyone in Paarl is waking up with a hangover today, then.
Here’s some pics from when Green won the gold:
Happy doesn’t even begin to describe how she must be feeling right now.
But Green isn’t about to let up now that she’s won. She’s determined to make a difference in her country while she’s the reigning titleholder. Per her acceptance speech:
I promise to build on the legacy of all former Miss South Africa title holders and to represent my country with elegance, style, beauty and unwavering commitment. Miss South Africa is so much more than just a competition. It is a calling, an opportunity to give back to the country that has richly provided so much to me so far.
As Miss South Africa, I will be in a strong position to assist with the reconstruction of a better South Africa. I have always been passionate about making a positive and progressive difference in the lives of others. I grew up being exposed to two very different worlds: That of the fortunate and less fortunate. I want to assist in bringing those worlds together. I believe this can be done by providing equal education to all. Actions speak louder than words.
I want to be a voice to those who cannot be heard, a servant and role model to South Africans and to the people of the world at large.
You go, girl – I mean, Miss SA.
Green was also named Miss Universe South Africa, while her fellow finalist, 26-year-old Thulisa Keyi from Fourways, Gauteng, is Miss World South Africa.
But there could only be one winner in this competition, and that was Green.
No shade intended, Keyi, I swear.
Congrats to you, Tamaryn Green. We can’t wait to see you carrying the South African flag high at Miss Universe 2018 … and maybe take Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters’ crown to add to your ever-growing collection.
