Final results of the local government elections have been trickling in all day and the country’s free broadcaster has been doing a good job of keeping live feeds interesting. Just after lunchtime things got a little hectique though when ANCYL child Julius Malema refused a live debate with the DA’s Lindiwe Mazibuko, calling her “The madam’s tea lady.”
Smacking of classic Malema rhetoric, the youth league’s role model delighted journalists with his take on Lindiwe’s position within the DA:
She’s a servant of the madam, I want the madam herself. Lindiwe applied to make tea for the madam, then she must continue to make tea for the madam.
Mazibuko wasn’t impressed with it all obviously:
Well first of all, he’s not an elected public representative but now he gets to dictate to eTV the terms of their news values and how they conduct interviews.
They willingly folded to that kind of pressure and so quickly. I had been there for an hour and he had been there for two minutes.
Continuing with his own analysis of the elections and refusing to acknowledge the fact that the DA may in fact have actually gained new support for legitimate reasons, Malema instead chose to assert the following logic:
I think the madam got her numbers from [the] ID because you must know that the ID was killed by the madam and then everything else that used to go to the ID is now going to the madam.
Well analysed, Julius.
