I can clearly remember the exact moment I decided never to show a taxi the finger again.
It was just after 4PM on a weekday and, in peak Cape Town CBD traffic, two men hopped out of a taxi and assaulted a truck driver metres from my car.
His crime? He had failed to let them in ahead of his vehicle, which led to him shouting angrily out of the window.
The men even brandished a knife in his direction, and used a crowbar to smash his side mirrors. Not a single driver got out to offer assistance.
This guy in Potchefstroom seems to be the kind of chap who would have hopped out, though. These details from Times LIVE:
The driver of the Jetta is then seen coming out to confront the minibus taxi driver‚ who also emerges out of his vehicle and attacks the other man with a knife.
eBlock Watch owner Andre Snyman said the incident is likely to have happened on Monday‚ as the video went viral the same day.
“I don’t know much about the video. All I have been told is the taxi driver stole the other guy’s cell phone and that’s why there was a chase‚” Snyman said.
Yeah, I’ll be steering well clear of confronting taxis.
There’s a longer video doing the rounds on Facebook, which shows what happened after that video above ends:
We don’t know what the real story is here, but it’s just another example of how people on our roads have zero chill.
