Since 9/11, flying has sucked. For all of the wrong reasons, flight security has become paranoid and despotic, and nowhere worse than the USA – where TSA agents have manhandled infants and the infirm in ‘the war on terror.’ So it’s nice to see that the Texas House of Representatives just banned TSA searches without probable cause.

The bill means next to nothing to those of us who don’t make regular trips to Texas, but it’s a step in the right direction, and in as conservative a state as you’re liable to find. If you’re hoping to fly again one day without a mandatory massage thrown in at takeoff and landing, this is good news.

The TSA itself has responded wonderfully, making the claim that:

What’s our take on the Texas House of Representatives voting to ban the current TSA pat-down? Well, the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution (Article. VI. Clause 2) prevents states from regulating the federal government.

The nice thing here is that the U.S. Constitution says no such thing – the TSA is lying to keep itself afloat.
