Well, today is going to be quite the day.

Happy Valentine’s Day, fools.

Jacob Zuma will face the media at 10AM [update – this is all up in the air at the moment, as it is unclear when or if he will address the media], in a speech that is sure to infuriate South Africans. The man is still, to this day, genuinely asking those within his party what he did wrong, so don’t expect him to be very contrite.

Over in Jozi, though, the Hawks have been busy. It’s almost like they have found a new lease on life or something.

The Hawks on Wednesday morning raided the Gupta compound in Saxonwold as part of its investigation into state capture.

They have blocked off the road in the elite Johannesburg suburb‚ eyewitnesses report.

While the Hawks have began raiding the Guptas compound in Saxonwold, Johannesburg, TimesLIVE understands that their business premises in Midrand are also being raided.

Hawks spokesman Hangwani Mulaudzi said the raids were part of the larger state capture investigation.

“We are not playing around. We take this investigation very seriously‚” Mulaudzi said.

“We will be releasing a statement soon about these and other raids that we are conducting.”

We are not playing around. Now that should put some pep in your step.

Hawks sources say the raids are part of a large multi-agency law enforcement operation.

“Officers are going out to secure certain items‚ documents‚ electronics. Anything that is seen as evidence for this investigation will be seized‚” a source said.

It is also understood that the Hawks will target Sahara Computers’ premises, located in Midrand.

We don’t know what is going to happen with the litany of charges that JZ currently faces, but if we can start putting pressure on those he aided and abetted then maybe, just maybe, we will one day see some form of justice.

UPDATE: Get a load of this via City Press:

City Press has learnt of the imminent arrest of at least two Gupta brothers as well as Duduzane Zuma.

City Press was told by a senior source within the security cluster that two Gupta brothers as well as President Jacob Zuma’s son face arrest from today in connection with money laundering, fraud and corruption charges related to the failed dairy farm project in Vrede, Free State.

The source was unable to reveal which two of the three Gupta brothers are set to be arrested. However, City Press has established that elder Gupta brother Ajay is in the country…

The Hawks have been trying to place the Gupta brothers under arrest for the past two weeks but have been unsure of their whereabouts. They were supposed to have been arrested last Thursday evening…

The security cluster source said that for now, only the two Gupta brothers and Duduzane Zuma face arrest and “no politicians yet”.

The politicians in question include Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane, who was the Free State MEC for agriculture at the time.
