This Is How They Roll In Ireland’s Parliament [Video]

It's been a while since we've seen a decent brawl in our Parliament, which would have been rectified if SONA hadn't been pushed back. Over in Ireland, though.

I don’t want to be patronising, but there’s something pretty funny about hearing people with thick Irish accents bickering in Parliament.

They actually had to temporarily suspend proceedings after a furious row broke out between members, opposition Fianna Fail party member Marc MacSharry kicking off with brothers and independent members of the lower house, Michael and Danny Healy-Rae.

For some context, here’s the Independent:

[Marc] was objecting to what he saw as the flouting of a new system where TDs – or MPs – take a numbered card when they enter the chamber in order to get selected for speaking time.

If a TD also wants to speak on the same topic as a previous speaker they can interject.

But Mr MacSharry said TDs were flouting the rules and repeatedly skipping the queue for speaking time.

It’s a bit like Snatch, but everyone has their shirts on:

No one even threw a chair or used a hard hat or shouted ‘Honourable Member’ – disappointing.
