I don’t want to give away my age here, but I grew up in the age of Mobile Drop.
They were the peeps who you could call after hours (especially when you were on the wrong side of 18), and they would deliver dops out of their boot – with the price hiked right up.
Russian Bear, Tassies, Smirnoff Spin etc – all way overpriced, all lukewarm at best, and all you had as an option because apps didn’t exist yet.
Thankfully we have grown up, at least in terms of apps, and that’s why you need to get on board with BOTTLES.
Hear me out, because this is an idea so simple that you’ll wonder why it took this long for someone to do it properly.
BOTTLES is an on-demand alcohol delivery app, available for free on the Apple store and Android store, and it provides the fastest and most convenient way to buy beer, wine and spirits in South Africa.
Then it’s pretty darn easy:
Delivered cold, to your doorstep, within 60 minutes.
You have to tick three boxes in order to make the grade:
Don’t have cash on you? No worries, because much like Uber you have your card details stored and you pay with a few pokes of a button.
Consider this: have you tried driving around Cape Town these past two days? It’s hot, there are people EVERYWHERE, and we just don’t need this kind of hassle in our lives. It’s only going to get worse as Christmas and New Years rolls around, so time to prepare for battle.
Running out of dops at the braai? Need a few more bottles of wine for your dinner party? Click, order, pay, relax.
Then there’s the fact that you might have had a few drinks already, and you’re better than hopping in the car and heading to the booze shop.
You just know those roadblocks are going to everywhere as well, and officers want those Christmas bonuses.
Open app, place order, crack another cold one with the boys.
Besides alcohol, they also offer a range of complementary products like mixers, ice, snacks, cigarettes and more (Rizla for those too incapacitated to get off the couch).
Your first delivery is FREE, and after that each delivery will cost you R50.
Here’s something else I quite like: Once you have confirmed your order, you will be able to click on “Split my bill” and select the name of your friend/s you want to split the bill with, and the amount they must pay, so you don’t have to be that person who coughs up because people arrived empty-handed.
As it stands, these are the areas in Cape Town that they service, although they are adding more:
Bantry Bay, Bishopcourt, Blouburgstrand, Camps Bay, Century City, City Bowl, Claremont, Clifton, Constantia, De Waterkant, Edgemead, Green Point, Kenilworth, Milnerton, Mowbray, Newlands, Observatory, Oranjezicht, Ottery, Paarl, Parklands, Plumstead, Rondebosch, Rosebank, Salt River, Sea Point, Somerset West, Strand, Sunset Beach, Table View, Tamboerskloof, Vredehoek, Wynberg, Woodstock
They also operate in Jozi, Pretoria and Durban (see which areas HERE), with plans to expand in the near future.
It’s all a bit of a no brainer if you ask me. Convenience is king, and it doesn’t get any easier than this.
Download BOTTLES here and have a look around for yourself. I’ll see you at the bottle store – naaaat.
