You might have tried to outrun the police that one time, through the windy streets of Claremont (No? Me neither), but when it comes to handling twists and turns at high speed the Gumtree World Rallycross Championship drivers will put you to shame.

There’s a reason these guys travel the world wowing crowds with their antics, and last weekend the Mother City was fortunate enough to host the first ever event on African soil.

Swedish speedster Johan Kristoffersson had already wrapped up the Championship, but that didn’t mean he was going to take his foot off the accelerator.

We may never know, but the good news is that the event was a massive success. So much so, in fact, that the World Rallycross Championship is coming back next year.
