…she said at the time she had been thinking about Mr Trump’s response to the devastation caused in Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria as well as her concern for a friend in the diplomatic corps, who was worried about job security.
Two weeks ago a female cyclist summed up how many of us feel about Donald Trump with a simple one-finger salute, a story we covered HERE.
It’s a free country, right, and you can flip the bird to whomever you like and buy lots of guns and other fun stuff.
Except in this day and age we know that the internet wants blood, and in the case of 50-year-old Juli Briskman that’s just what they got.
Briskman was sacked from her position in marketing for government contractor Akima LCC for her actions, being escorted from the building and criticised by her bosses.
Her response, via the Telegraph, would be mine as well:
“I wasn’t even at work when I did that. But they told me I violated the code of conduct policy.”
Better yet, she said she has no regrets and would do it again, using the now iconic image as her Twitter profile pic and background picture.
That doesn’t solve the problem of not having a job any longer, of course, but then the internet stepped up to right its wrongs:
A GoFundMe page was set up in the wake of her sacking and urged people to donate to “show support” for the mother of two teenagers. It has since raised more than $57,000…and says it aims to raise a total of $100,000.
Here’s a current screenshot of that page, correct as of the time of writing:
Even Trump enemy number one Rosie O’Donnell popped $1 000 Juli’s way.
We’ll finish with why she reckons the Donald deserved her middle finger:
…she said at the time she had been thinking about Mr Trump’s response to the devastation caused in Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria as well as her concern for a friend in the diplomatic corps, who was worried about job security.
“I was thinking about all this, tooling along, when I see the black cars come and I remember, oh yeah, he was back on the golf course,” she said.
That man played golf on 35 of his first 164 days as president, in case you wondering.
Well played Juli, and enjoy your $100 000.
