Happy Friday, everyone.
I don’t know how you celebrate the weekend, but there’s no shortage of the white powder flying around the Atlantic Seaboard on a Friday evening.
The other day I was offered cocaine twice on Long Street within the space of two minutes. I should add it was 7PM on a Tuesday, although I do look rather shady.
So do we crack the world’s top 20 list of cocaine consuming countries? Not quite, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime website.
You ready? Read it and weep:
That’s one in 40 Albanians, and if you thought Scotland’s biggest health problem was deep-frying everything then think again.
So what about us? Well, Luxembourg only just pipped us into the top 20, because we’re sitting at 1,02% of the population. Close but no cigar.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Colombia only comes in at number 34, so one can only assume they didn’t take visiting Irish and Australian tourists into consideration.
Let’s look at the world leaders in a few other guilty pleasures:
